He compared the accomplishment to the NCAA Basketball Championship between the North Carolina Tarheels and the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Using a method from the NCAA tournament, HMS advanced to the Elite Eight and reached the Final Four. “They took this national competition very seriously.” “They applied themselves and they worked very hard on their math lessons,” Bradshaw said. ![]() Principal Jeff Bradshaw said 60 students and Natasha Owens Peterson, HMS computer lab facilitator, worked hard throughout the school year, especially in February and March. The ceremony was held Tuesday evening at the school, with several representatives from Sampson County Schools and the organization. The program offers online tutorials with a goal to help students with the subject. Out of more than 13,000 schools, the school was the Runner-Up in Imagine Learning’s March “MATH” Madness.
